This qualification covers the processes and practices involved in designing electrical installations. The emphasis is on the safe and ergonomic design on an installation which complies with relevant statutes, regulations, industry standards and sound engineering practices.
This qualification provides an opportunity for electricians to take electrical design to the next level. It will expand your knowledge and understanding of electrical installation design.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification comprises of a single knowledge unit which covers design calculations and the application of BS7671 and related statutory and non-statutory requirements and guidance in the safe and effective design of an installation.
Who is this qualification for?
Those who wish to further their career in the electrotechnical sector.
Learners who wish to demonstrate their ability in electrical installation design.
Those who wish to obtain an Industry recognised qualification.
Entry Requirements:
Learners must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners must have the potential to achieve all aspects of the qualification. Learners should be able to demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.
How is the qualification achieved?
This qualification will be achieved when the learner has successfully completed the assessments relating to the single knowledge unit.
How will it be assessed?
The assessment of this qualification involves the following two aspects:
An EAL set centre marked project. The project is graded a Pass or Fail only.
A written controlled knowledge assessment which is graded a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Fail.
Both components must be achieved for the qualification to be awarded.
